Van Ness Main Street is looking for volunteers for our Committees: Events/Promotions, Design, and Economic Development. If you're interested in joining one of these committees, please send us the Committee you would like to serve on and your bio and/or resume to: [email protected].

​Events/Promotions
The Events and Promotions Committee organizes and executes activities and special events to showcase Van Ness’s unique businesses and to promote a positive image of our community. Meets monthly, with occasional additional meetings near major events. Some event examples include the UDC Farmers Market, our Annual Fundraiser, and the Spring Forward bulb planting.

​Design
The Design Committee explores opportunities and facilitates projects to improve the physical environment. The Committee works to enhance the image of each business, as well as that of the whole area. The Committee also provides design advice to encourage quality improvements to private properties, as well as public spaces. It also focuses on long term development plans, and guides future growth. Meets bi-monthly and Subcommittees meet on non-full Committee meeting months. A recent impact of our work is the Burger King renovation scheduled for 2021 that will include an upgrade to its front public space that will include a deck for outdoor seating and greenery/plantings.

​Economic Development
The Economic Development Committee aims to create a vibrant, diverse and supportive business environment by working to enhance current businesses, while attracting new businesses that will complement the needs and demands of the Van Ness Community. The Committee completed the first Van Ness Retail Study in 2018 and was key in launching the Van Ness Main Street Holiday Pop Up Shop at 4340 Connecticut Avenue now in its 5th year.
